Education: College/CEGEP. Work setting: Nursing home/home for the aged. Tasks: Administer medications. Apply aseptic techniques including sterile dressing. Ensure infection control. Observe and record medication's therapeutic and side effects . Take vital signs. Provide nursing services, within defined scope of practice, to patients based on patient assessment and care planning procedures. Monitor patients' progress, evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions and consult with appropriate members of healthcare team. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Eligible for licensure as a practical nurse by the province/territory of work. Completion of the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination. CPR Certificate. First Aid Certificate. Area of specialization: Geriatrics. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Immunization records. Tuberculosis test. Vulnerable sector check. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Work under pressure. Physically demanding. Attention to detail. Combination of sitting, standing, walking.
