Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Various locations. Tasks: Mountain driving expertise. Arrange travel, related itineraries and make reservations. Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy. Drive lighter, special purpose trucks. Load and unload goods. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Perform preventive maintenance. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo. Transport and handle dangerous goods. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi trailer trucks). Class 5/5F/G Licence (cars, small trucks and other 2-axle vehicles). Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports. Bill of lading. Dangerous goods occurrence reports. Driver logbook. Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Maintenance and repair reports. Trip reports. Type of trucking and equipment: Stone slinger. Concrete mixing. Dry bulk. Dump truck. Logging, off-highway. Straight truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles). Communication systems experience: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment. Transportation/travel experience: Local. Long-haul. Provincial/territorial. Regional. Short-haul. Security and safety: Bondable. Criminal record check. Driver's validity licence check. Driving record check (abstract). Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Willing to travel overnight. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail. Handling heavy loads. Large workload. Overtime required. Physically demanding. Repetitive tasks. Weight handling: More than 45 kg (100 lbs). Own tools/equipment: Cellular phone.
