Job details
Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work site environment: At heights. Outdoors. Work setting: Historical restoration. Commercial. Industrial. Institutional. Residential. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Measure, mark and cut glass. Position and secure panes in frame. Prepare tenders and quotations. Assemble and install prefabricated glass, mirrors or glass products. Install door, window and other hardware. Instruct apprentices. Prepare shop drawings. Repair glass doors and other glass structures. Assemble, erect and dismantle scaffolding, rigging and hoisting equipment. Supervise other workers. Transport cases of glass. Estimate costs and materials. Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages. Work from man-lift mobile equipment, cranes and other lifting equipment. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Working at heights training. Occupational Health and Safety Certificate. Type of glass/materials: Acrylic plexiglass. Float glass. Mirrors. Sealed units. Frame fabrication and installation: Curtain wall (stock length material). Curtain wall (prefabricated material). Aluminum framing members. Glass cutting equipment and techniques: Cutting wheels. 118 degree wheel. Circular cutters. Cut glass plate manually (straight cuts). Cut glass plate free-hand (curved cuts). Edge glass plates. Notch glass plates. Installation specialization: Skylights and slope glazed installations. Curtain walls. Stained glass installations. Aluminum storefronts, barrel vaults, solariums, commercial window systems. Shower doors and tub enclosures. Aquarium. Walls and other interior areas (i.e. partitions).
