Job details
Education: Bachelor's degree. Work setting: Engineering firm. Tasks: Conduct research into the feasibility, design, operation and performance of mechanisms, components and systems. Design power plants, machines and equipment. Supervise and inspect the installation of mechanical systems. Investigate mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance problems. Plan and manage projects, and prepare material, cost and timing estimates, reports and design specifications for machinery and systems. Prepare contract documents and evaluate tenders for industrial construction or maintenance. Commission systems and components. Prepare material cost and timing estimates, reports and design specifications. Communicate technical problems, processes and solutions. Design and develop marine vessels and floating structures and associated marine power plants, propulsion systems and related systems and equipment. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) by a provincial or territorial association. Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) by a provincial or territorial association. Computer and technology knowledge: ANASYS. AutoCAD. MS Office. Teamcenter. MS Excel. Microsoft Visio. Equipment and machinery experience: Hydraulic components. 3D pantographs. Hydraulic system. Pneumatic system. Area of work experience: Finite element analysis (FEA). Installation, maintenance and inspection of equipment or facilities. Project management. Design. Specification or technical writing. Engineering professional and construction management (EPCM). Mining design specialization: Mining equipment and machinery design. Area of specialization: Hydraulics and fluids. Mobile equipment. Transportation equipment. Mining and mining engineering.
