Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Dusty. Work setting: Residential. Urban area. Work in employer's/client's home. Tasks: Inspect, measure and mark surfaces to be covered. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Measure, cut and fasten underlay and underpadding. Prepare flooring plans and scheduling. Measure, cut and install carpeting on floors. Prepare tenders and quotations. Prepare and install hardwood floors. Inspect and repair damaged floor coverings. Conduct moisture, ph, temperature and other tests prior to flooring installations. Estimate costs and materials. Prepare floors for installations. Remove existing floor coverings and contaminants. Employ knee kickers and other equipment to stretch carpeting. Perform direct glue-down carpet installations. Perform double-bond carpet installations. Install resilient stair components (special effects for the visually impaired). Install materials on counter tops and raised platforms. Install vinyl decking materials. Installation specialization: Vinyl or resilient tiles. Vinyl or resilient sheets. Hardwood strip flooring. Hardwood intricate patterns flooring. Rubber sheet goods. Flexible PVC sheet goods. Cork flooring. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Handling heavy loads. Ability to distinguish between colours.
