Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work setting: Construction. Various locations. Renovation. Millwork/pre-fab shopwork. Residential. Tasks: Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements. Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools. Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems. Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware. Instruct apprentices. Estimate costs and materials. Supervision: 5-10 people. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Carpenter Trade Certification. Personal protective equipment (PPE) training. Working at heights training. Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) clearance Certificate. First Aid Certificate. CADD Course. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Carpenter Red Seal Certificate. Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS) Certificate. Equipment and machinery experience: Hand tools. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Own vehicle. Valid driver's licence.
