The Estimating Manager is responsible for leading a team of estimators and administrators in preparing estimates from take-off to final pricing, including preparing bids, soliciting vendors or subcontractors. They will identify safe, effective means and methods of project execution while estimating a wide range of small to multimillion-dollar projects.
The Estimating Manager is also responsible for ensuring bidding accuracy through all phases of the bidding process, tracking bidding success and analyzing bid performance to improve system and estimating strategies.
*KEY ACCOUNTABILTIES*
* Work closely with the Leadership Team on strategy development to support revenue and margin goals
* Assist in development and management of the departmental budget
* Create goals and strategies for the Estimating team that align with the strategic plan
* Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and systems to ensure process efficiencies
* Maintain an estimating management process focused upon efficient triage and assignment of opportunities.
* Provide guidance and recommendations on tools required for success to the organization.
* Provide clarity and connection to other working groups and stakeholders on estimating best practices
* Triage and manage bonding requests
* Consult with other working groups (Field Ops, PM, etc.) about general conditions, construction methodology and schedules during the bidding process
* Review all final estimate packages within fiscal authority limits to ensure accuracy and completeness, prior to formal quotation/submission
* Maintain competitive advantage in bid strategies by monitoring the marketplace and current trends for the development and execution of effective winning bid strategies
* Lead and manage major project proposal submissions, where required
* Ensuring a safe and positive work environment for staff, the Estimating Team Lead will develop, coach and motivate team members ensure their personal development and success
* Develop and foster close relationships with clients, consultants, trades and suppliers
* Represent the Company at both Company sponsored as well as industry events
*EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE*
* Degree or diploma in engineering, construction management, or a related field
* 5+ years of estimating experience, preferably within a deep foundation, helical and driven pile construction company
* 2+ years of experience leading a team
* Experience in client relations
* Experience field construction operations
* Estimating background in construction in either Oil & Gas, or Power Transmission & Distribution, or Commercial Construction industry (Asset)
* Engineering Designation an asset (P.Eng, PGEO, CET)
*WORK ENVIRONMENT*
* Hybrid: one day a week required to be in Ponoka facility.
* Occasional travel may be required which may include visits to industrial area
* Fast paced with tight deadlines
* Regular work schedule based on 40 hour work week
* Work schedule may vary
* On-call duties/after-hours support
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $100,000.00 per year
