*THE ROLE*
As a member of the Finance team, you will be involved in all aspects of financial accounting, analysis, reporting and governance. You will be based in our corporate office in Toronto and will report to the Corporate Controller with a dotted line to the Director of Capital Projects. The Project Accountant effectively communicates and collaborates with the Project team, maintaining a portfolio of projects through the project lifecycle, including contract documents, change orders, approvals etc.
, driving collaboration across all teams in the business. You will also be required to travel to the company?s engineering and production facilities (currently in
Kingston, Ontario) periodically. You will work with external service providers including accountants, auditors, bankers, and suppliers .

*WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING*
* Provide project accounting expertise, training, and oversight to the Capital Projects team through the financial lifecycle of a project; from setup, monitoring, updating and closure.
* Provide comprehensive financial reporting and monthly updates to Capital Projects team of current projects.
* Lead the financial review for projects comparing actuals to budgets and in compliance with accounting standards. Ensure operating expense and capital expense allocation is according to policy and accounting standards.
* Investigating and analyzing project variances and submitting variance reports to management.
* Operate, create, and maintain projects cost budgets, including contracts, change orders and maintain project records with accuracy.
* Maintain payables schedule for multiple entities and multiple vendors to ensure timely payments.
* Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and assist with cashflow management activities.
* Review and approve overhead charges to be applied to a project.
* Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts.
* Provide reporting for Grants related to projects.
* Assist with month end and year end financials and any day-to-day accounting/financial tasks that might be required (bank recs, invoicing, payments).
* Adhoc analysis and projects as assigned.
*WHAT YOU WILL BRING*
* Bachelor?s degree in Accounting or equivalent
* A minimum of 5 years of experience in project-based accounting
* Understand the scope of work to sufficiently build and status schedules, cost plans, spend plans, within a variety of project controls tools
* Flexibility and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and collaborate with various managers in fast paced environment.
* Proficiency with MS Office including
