Maison McCulloch Hospice (MMH) is a Centre of Excellence dedicated to the collaborative delivery of quality hospice palliative care in both official languages. *POSITION SUMMARY *
The AM Prep Cook reports to the Kitchen Manager and is responsible for executing all aspects of the morning food service functions for residents and visitors as well as the completion of daily baking and other food preparation tasks as assigned. The AM Prep Cook maintains high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and production in the food preparation and service areas. The AM Prep Cook works collaboratively with our clinical team in meeting the nutritional needs of the residents we serve.
*POSITION REQUIREMENTS*
*Necessary:*
· Food Handler?s Certificate (or need to obtain within 3 months of hire)
· WHMIS Certification (or need to obtain withing 3 months of hire)
· 2 years? experience with cooking, food preparation and serving functions
· Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
· Clear Criminal Record Check
*Preferred:*
· Prior related experience in a hospital, long-term care or in a commercial kitchen is an asset
· Bilingualism (English/French), written and verbal, (or willingness to pursue) is an asset
*Skills:*
· Ability to follow recipes and produce batch baking and quantity food preparation as delegated and requested
· Ability to produce cook-to-order meals per resident requests and dietary restrictions
· Knowledgeable and skilled in the use of commercial cooking equipment and dishwasher
· Perform proper segregation and sanitation practices during food prep, plating, and dishwashing/cleaning functions
· Working knowledge of food service industry standards and regulations and Canada?s Food Guide
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
· Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
· Demonstrated time-management and prioritization skills
· Affinity for helping others and desire to accommodate dietary needs
· Sensitivity to the environment, residents, and family members we serve
· Ability to be flexible, adaptable, and take initiative
*SALARY: *starting at $20.75 per hour
