Medical Office Assistant Responsibilities:
Including but not limited to:
* Experience and previous education in the medical field is an asset
* Contribute to a supportive environment for clinic patients and staff
* Schedule and confirm appointments, receive and relay messages, and communicate with patients as well as medical staff and other medical professionals (ie pharmacy, other clinics, specialists) via the phone and in person
* Coordinate patient care throughout the clinic, ie: waiting room, exam room, procedure room, and treatment room
* Assist patients in scheduling tests, follow up appointments, recalls, etc. if necessary both in and outside the clinic
* Use EMR, other electronic medical systems, and applications to assist in patient care, schedule appointments, prepare reports for doctors, and maintain accurate information (ie: demographics)
* Measure vitals (ie: blood pressure, heart rate, pulse oxygen, height, weight, etc) and record on the EMR system
* Assist physicians in examination and procedure rooms as necessary
* Assist patients with completing forms as necessary
* Receive payments from patients and other organizations (ie: insurance, private billing, etc.) after entering cost codes and producing invoices
* Accept payments in forms of cash, cheques, and credit/debit cards
* Document scanning and filing both on computer and hard copy (when necessary)
* Operate computers, printers, scanners, and phones (basic troubleshooting skills are an asset)
* Prioritize STAT/URGENT reports
* Provide simple wound management and basic first aid when necessary
* Prepare examination rooms with instruments and medical supplies needed in each room before the start of each shift
* Maintain clinic stock by taking inventory (gowns, swabs, etc.)
* Follow clinic guidelines and protocols
* Perform other clerical and administrative functions as required
* Maintain a clean, hygienic, and non-hazardous facility (mopping wet floor, cleaning up after patients, both in exam rooms and in all other areas of clinic)
* Collect test/sample specimens from patients, label and transfer to respective parties
* Disinfect all equipment in examination and procedure rooms at end of shift in accordance with AHS guidelines
* Participate in staff and team meetings when requested
* Promote healthy living to all clients and provide appropriate resources
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.50-$19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 ? 38 per week
Schedule:
* Monday to Friday
