Location <p> Site <p> FTE <p> Assignment <p> Napanee, Ontario Board Office <p> 1.0 FTE <p> Permanent 12 Month position <p> Effective immediately. <p> 7 hours/day, <p> 5 days/week. T he Finance/Accounting Technician supports the Financial Services department including the processing of accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger entry and analysis and procurement processes. They support the accuracy in enrolment and property tax assessment information for various financial and budgeting purposes. They prepare and process account transactions in a manner that respects key department timelines while ensuring accuracy and compliance with the Board policies, procedures, and internal controls. The Finance/Accounting Technician provides customer supports and training to schools, departments and vendors concerning finance issues. <p> Qualifications: Post-Secondary Education in Business Administration Accounting or Commerce. Consideration will be given to the equivalent combination of education and experience. <p> Three or more years of related work experience in a computerized accounting department, preferably with a public sector organization;<p> Demonstrated understanding of accounting and expense classifications; chart of accounts; account coding, accruals, audit processes and month and year-end procedures within a large and complex chart of accounts;<p> Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Public Sector Accounting Board Standards (PSAB), Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) regulations pertaining to Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) and trust accounting;<p> Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills;<p> Strong mathematical, analytical and problem solving skills;<p> Ability to compile and analyze financial data for processing and reporting;<p> Strong technology skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel and working knowledge of computerized accounting systems, and database query applications;<p> Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member; <p> Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;<p> Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information;<p> Strong commitment to ensuring deadlines are maintained and achieved The board is seeking candidates who demonstrate the following Core Competencies:<p>Communication <p>Innovation <p>Interpersonal Relations <p>Leadership <p>Planning and Organization <p>Professional Integrity <p>System Thinking <p> As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must provide a Criminal Background Check (CBC) with vulnerable sector screening current within six months of date of hire.<p>At the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board, we are guided by a strong system of values that promote dignity and respect for every individual.
