Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Conduct quality control on programs, procedures and control strategies
  • Determine product specifications
  • Establish new quality control programs and strategies
  • Evaluate chemical process technology and equipment
  • Conduct economic and technical feasibility studies
  • Conduct research into the development or improvement of chemical engineering processes, reactions and materials
  • Design and test chemical processing and associated plants and equipment
  • Develop guidelines and specifications for the handling of dangerous chemicals, environmental protection, or standards for foods, materials and consumer goods
  • Prepare contract documents and evaluate tenders
  • Supervise technicians, technologists and other engineers
  • Commission systems and components
  • Supervise laboratory activities
  • Ensure health and safety regulations are followed
