*Overview:* We are an established boutique Architectural firm looking for a highly experienced and driven Accountant who wants to be part of our next stage of business growth! We are small but mighty. With ambitious plans. We need an enthusiastic financial guru to help solidify our existing financial reporting, systems, and processes.
This position is listed as part-time/contract, but don?t be fooled. We?re looking for a long-term team member who can embrace our core values, vision, mission and work with our team to achieve corporate financial and other strategic goals. We embrace technology and work-life balance so working hours and conditions (remote versus in-office) are extremely flexible.
You will work closely with the President and leadership team. You will assume both day-to-day responsibilities plus a strategic role in the overall Accounting Department of the company. You will plan, implement, manage, and control all financial-related activities of the company.
*Responsibilities:*
1. Perform bookkeeping duties, including maintaining accurate records of financial transactions.
2. Manage payroll processes, ensuring timely and accurate payments to employees.
3. Administer group insurance policies and benefits programs for staff members.
4. Prepare and post journal entries to ensure accurate financial reporting.
5. Generate client invoices and track payments received.
6. Accounts payable, including critical review and follow-up with vendors and managing holdbacks/retention.
7. Conduct ad hoc financial analysis to support decision-making processes.
8. Cash flow and forecasting models and projections.
9. Preparation of month-end financial statements and reports.
10. Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
11. Provide support for annual audits and financial reviews by external accountant as required.
12. Reconciliation and control of T5018s vendor information, T4?s, GST remittances
*Qualifications:*
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.
2. Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
3. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
4. Strong understanding of payroll processes and regulations.
5. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
6. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
9. CPA designation is an asset.
10. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and take initiative to drive process improvements.
