The assistant chef is responsible for duties relating to the purchasing, preparation and serving of snacks and meals for a daycare and also being in the classroom as an assistant. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE Duties will include but are not limited to the following * Preparing snacks and lunch for toddlers, preschoolers and kindergarden aged children, up to 130 children. * Ability to cook meals and bake from scratch. * Must be able to make lunch accommodating dietary restrictions and allergies. * Has a large knowledge of kitchen preparation and ministry of health inspections * Ensuring the kitchen is kept clean and sanitary at all times, washing snack and lunch dishes, cups, cutlery, containers etc. * Setting up bins for snacks and lunch * Maintaining proper temperatures of food and keeping a log * Ability to multi-task and work under pressure * Works with a positive attitude and as a team player * Have the physical stamina and ability to kneel, bend, lift and stand for extended periods. * Substitute as needed in a classroom as a helper * Assist in other tasks as needed * CRP and First Aid required * Food Handler Certificate required * Hours are from 8am to 4pm Job Type: Part-time Pay: $17.20-$20.00 per hour Expected hours: 15 ? 25 per week Additional pay: * Overtime pay Benefits: * Dental care * Extended health care * On-site parking * Paid time off * Vision care Flexible language requirement: * French not required Schedule: * Monday to Friday Experience: * Childcare: 2 years (preferred) Work Location: In person Expected start date: 2024-10-01- LocationMarkham, ON
