Our schools are teaching communities where principals, vice-principals, teachers and support staff nurture student well-being and challenge students to achieve their best. <p>We are seeking a creative, dynamic, committed professional to join our team: <p>School Library Technician <p>Shingwakons Public School <p>Status of Position:50% Regular<p>Work Year:10 months per year <p>Hours of Work:17.5 hours per week; flexible <p>Salary Rate: $26.22 to $32.67 per hour Under the direction of the Principal or designate, the Library Technician will provide technical and public services and perform other duties related to library operations such as organize, maintain, select, order, circulate print and non-print materials, provide reference services, research and prepare support materials for units of study, and perform public relations, supervisory and clerical activities.<p>Shingwkons is striving to be a school that embodies the idea of the 21st Century Learner. We value innovation and creativity and have attempted to reinvision how our spaces are shared across our school. Our Library is known as the Library Commons. It is a space that allows for creativity through STEAM and Maker activities. We are slowly generating a Library collection that will house a diversity of print material which allows for our students to see themselves in the resources. It is a multi-use space that allows for larger learning communities to share opportunities. We are looking for an individual who shares a passion for innovation and creativity to further develop the Library Commons into a truly magical space. Qualifications Diploma in Library and Information Technician, and 1 to 2 years of library experience.<p> Understanding of Cataloguing and classification systems.<p> Research skills required;<p> Proficiency in computer applications (word processing, spreadsheets and databases), ability to perform internet searches and use research tools. <p> Experience operating and maintaining library software. <p> Organizational skills required to schedule classes/small groups and prioritize concurrent tasks and deadlines.<p> Interpersonal and communication skills required, including writing communication skills.<p> The ability to use tact, judgment and diplomacy when dealing with staff, students, parents/volunteers. <p> The ability to work in both English and French is an asset.
