Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Work setting: Relocation costs covered by employer. Tasks: Fit and assemble prefabricated metal parts to build heavy industrial machinery. Read blueprints to determine work requirements . Move and align subassemblies and components. Install major components such as gears, pumps, motors or hydraulic assemblies. Determine nature, cause and location of trouble. Help with the installation, the assembly, and repairs to equipment. Direct the maintenance and repair of an establishment's machinery, equipment and electrical and mechanical systems. Develop and implement schedules and procedures for safety inspections and preventive maintenance programs. Install fabricated components in final product. Set up machine tools such as lathes, milling machines and grinders. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Machine Fitter Trade Certification. Computer and technology knowledge: Use computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Instrument experience: Precision measuring instrument. Equipment and machinery experience: Hydraulic components. Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) (TIG). Heavy machinery manufacturing. Power cutting tools. Equipment, eystems and controls experience: NC and CNC systems. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Handling heavy loads. Standing for extended periods. Attention to detail. Overtime required. Experience: 5 years or more.
