For over 40 years, Altex Systems has been providing professional electrical services to clients in Calgary and its surrounding areas. Our services include electrical installations and maintenance of building card access systems, surveillance systems, data systems, sound and intercom systems, controls, and fire alarm monitoring and testing.
We are looking for a *Fire Alarm Technician*.

What your typical workday may look like:
* Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot fire alarm software and systems
* Program fire alarm systems
* Ensure systems are up-to-date and compliant with protocols and regulations
* Monitor fire alarm systems and respond to alarms
* Perform regular maintenance of hardware and software components
* Repair and replace faulty equipment
* Provide technical support and troubleshooting
* Update system databases and user accounts
* Test and calibrate components and system
* Train users on fire alarm systems
Job Requirements:
* Previous experience or interest in working on commercial fire alarm systems. CFAA certifications would be a BONUS but not required.
* Experience with or interest in learning how to read mechanical and electrical blueprints.
* Proficiency or willingness to learn the Alberta Building Code, Canadian Electrical Code, Alberta Electrical Utility Code, etc.
* Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose fire alarm system issues
* Knowledge of fire alarm systems and related hardware and software
* Ability to install and configure fire alarm systems
* Skilled in programming fire alarm systems
* Ability to read and understand schematics, blueprints and wiring diagrams
* Relevant Safety Tickets (examples: CSTS and WHMIS, First Aid, Aerial Work Platform, Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry, Leadership for Safety Excellence etc.)
* Clear verbal and written communication skills as it will be required to complete and submit accurate documentation to track work progress including time sheets and other related documents.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, with some (minimal) overtime required.

* Clean Criminal Record (due to the sensitive nature of our clients, a criminal record check is required)
