The Corporation of the City of North VancouverPlanner 1 (City Design and Planning)Regular Full TimeThe City of North Vancouver is the urban core of the beautiful North Shore and has a long-term vision to be ?The Healthiest Small City in the World?, with five key priorities to be a City for People, a Resilient City, a Vibrant City, a Connected City and a Prosperous City.The Planning & Development Department is looking for a regular full time Planner 1 (City Design and Planning) to join their team. Reporting to the Manager, Planning (City Design and Planning) this position requires knowledge in a variety of areas related to long range planning, land use planning, urban design and environmental sustainability. This exciting position provides the opportunity to influence and create actionable policy in directing growth and working towards the City?s vision to be ?The Healthiest Small City in the World?. *You will use your skills in supporting long range policy, technical land use support, data collection and analysis, undertaking studies, and participating in the implementation of the Official Community Plan (OCP), Zoning Bylaw Update and other city-building initiatives. You will liaise with various internal and external contacts, answer inquiries, and provide information to other departments and the public. In addition, you may participate in public meetings, and public engagements and provide various planning groups, committees, and Council with technical and professional expertise and guidance, as well as, prepare Council reports. Performs related duties as required. You will have a University degree in Community / Regional Planning and some professional planning experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Sound knowledge and experience in the analytical and research techniques and methodology in municipal planning is required, along with membership or eligibility for membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners and the Planning Institute of British Columbia. Strong project management, problem solving, and effective communication skills are an asset. You will be required to attend evening Council, committee and public meetings. Salary:$50.13 to $59.23 per hour (January 2024 rates)Pay Grade 28 Hours of Work:The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.
