*Job Title:* Full Time Recreation Programmer

*Job Description: *Responsible for assisting the development, organization and delivery of recreation programs that enhance the health, functional abilities, independence and quality of life for the residents.
*Education Required:*
* Successful completion of a recognized Recreation Programmer?s course
* Current registration with the Nova Scotia Therapeutic Recreation Association preferred
* Knowledge and/or skills in music, creative expression and crafts an asset
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and the internet
* Food Handlers course an asset
* Current First Aid an asset
* Education in responsive behaviors/Alzheimer?s and related dementias preferred
*Competencies:*
* Assist in development, organization, delivery and evaluation of recreation programs
* Assist with assessment of residents and developing plans to meet their needs
* Help the Chaplain and local area ministers to ensure spiritual needs of the residents are being met
* Documenting care provided
* Provide direction and assist in supervision of volunteers when needed
* Effective communication both written and verbal in English with residents, families and co-workers
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy in all aspects of the organization
* Possesses exemplary Customer Service skills
* Reliable with good attendance and cheerful disposition
* Must take initiative and able to work with minimum supervision
* Respectful and hardworking team player
* Demonstrate the use of proper body mechanics
* Maintain a clean and sanitary environment
* Experience in a long-term care or similar environment is considered an asset
* Act as an ambassador for Dykeland Lodge
* Criminal Record Check including the Vulnerable Sector Screening in the *last 3 months* is required

* In accordance with the Collective Agreement with Dykeland Lodge
