*Process Engineering Manager*
Reporting to the General/Plant Manager, the Process Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing the functions and operations within the Process Engineering department. The Process Engineering Manager will be a subject matter expert in areas including but not limited to automation, tooling, manufacturing, process, design, etc., This Manager will work with cross functional teams to identify and address problems and implement continuous improvement projects aimed at improving costs, reducing scrap, and creating process efficiencies.
*What does the Process Engineering Manager do?*
* Plan, direct and oversee work activities of all process engineering department team members in the completion of engineering tasks and projects.
* Direct the hiring and training of qualified engineering staff.
* Support new business implementation by participation in Quoting, APQP, PAPP, FMEA activities, and provide technical procedures & critical process controls for implementation of projects.
* Acquire & review proposals from outside vendors with the appropriate personnel, regarding the purchase of new or modernization of production / processing / plant equipment.
* Perform a variety of engineering assignments in determining, developing and implementing production / change-over / set-up / processing methods and controls to meet quality, environmental & Health and Safety standards in the most cost-efficient manner. Lead the start-up and de-bugging of new processes; training of production personnel, set standards for the process and development of standard operating procedures.
* Assist in Troubleshooting all production equipment in conjunction with the Cross Functional Team whenever problems occur on new set-ups.
* Prepare set-ups, plant layouts & operating procedures for manufacturing processes.
* Coordinate pre-production trials with production & project teams. Obtain process potential studies, run rates and operating procedures.
* Develop business plans and ensure Kaizen activities are implemented as per plan.
* Ensure that metrics are in place and are being used to improve processes.
* Co-ordinate the activities of various focus teams to improve upon overall production yields, efficiencies, etc.
* Ensure increasing levels of customer and employee satisfaction while improving the efficiency of processes.
* Provide leadership for problem resolution to facilitate quick and effective improvements.
* Execute business plans to achieve key performance indicators.
* Ensure meetings i.e., communications, safety, and team meetings are held effectively as per timelines.
* Conduct performance appraisals for direct reports and mentor areas for improvement.
* Participate in JHSC and actively work toward the resolution of safety concerns.
* Demonstrate an understanding of the significant environmental impacts of your work activities; follow work instructions to ensure positive environmental performance is sustained, and understand the consequences of deviating from them.
* Other duties as assigned.
*What you bring to the table*
* Minimum 5 years experience in an automotive manufacturing environment as a Process Engineering Supervisors or Manager (preferably in the plastics industry).
* Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
* Experience in thermoforming and/or compression molding is an asset
* High volume automotive experience is an asset.
