This is a afternoon shift
Position Summary: The Chef Assistant is responsible for the preparation of high-quality food in a timely, efficient, sanitary and consistent manner. The Chef Assistant must be prepared to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure work environment, while maintaining the organizational ability to identify and act on job duties quickly and effectively. Chef Assistant must be prepared to work as a team member in a dynamic workplace, follow all safety procedures, and have a high threshold for heat in a kitchen environment.

Specific Duties
Ø Responsible for the daily preparation of food items in the pantry, fry and/or stations or other areas of the kitchen.
Ø Cleans and maintains station in practicing good safety, sanitation, organizational skills.
Ø Ensure quality and safety of food by performing standard and any additional sanitary measures including sweeping of the floors, cleaning of surfaces, as well as proper covering and storage of food items according to standards and procedures.
Ø Utilize in house food items and a creative mindset to develop feature items
Ø Delegate and lead a team in order to ensure accuracy & efficiency in food items
Ø Practice heads up behavior to keep team members busy and tasks completed effectively and efficiently
Ø Complete all tasks in a timely manner
Ø Collaborate with chef to develop, improve menu items and utilize products available.
Ø Prepare pastries/fruits for breakfast functions
Ø Organize cold buffet on buffet (hard boiled eggs, yogurt, cream cheese, parfait and fruit)
Ø Prepare foods for both buffet & menu service
Ø Aid in plating of functions
Ø Assist line cook when needed
Ø Assist on the grill station and help with breakfast, lunch or dinner
Ø Help in the dish area when dishwasher duties are required
Ø Any reasonable request from the executive chef/sous chef
Ø Assist in putting away orders
Ø In Executive Chefs absence has the ability to adjust staffs schedule
Ø In Executive Chefs absence has the ability to place orders
Ø Demonstrate flexibility and volunteer to fill open shifts as required by variations in staffing.
Ø Follow proper reporting procedures for accidents and incidents to ensure follow-up and prevention. Follow proper reporting procedures for accidents and incidents to ensure follow-up and prevention.
Ø Respect all other employees.
Ø Must be able to move, lift, reach, carry, push, & place objects 25lbs or more.
Ø The incumbent must apply and be eligible for membership within the UFCW Local 1006A
Ø Any other assigned duties by management
