We currently have a full-time opportunity for an Accountant to join our Finance team.Here's where you'll be focusing:Accurately prepare and post entries and account for transactions in the general ledger and fixed asset subledger.Prepare and review working papers that support account balances, investigate errors, and facilitate correctionsComplete period-end close processes, controls, and proceduresReconcile the balance in fixed asset subledger to the GL. Review and update fixed asset schedules for financial statement note disclosure purposesTrack project expenditure and ensure proper reclassification in accordance with IFRS and fixed asset policy (capital vs expense)Ensure compliance with CEO/CFO Certification requirements.Participate in the internal and external audit requests.Collaborate with various stakeholders and provide recommendations that are in accordance with the fixed asset policy and IFRSWith a process improvement mindset, propose innovative ideasPrepare various analytical and ad-hoc reports.What you have to offer:University Degree and Accounting Designation CPA (or in the process of obtaining)2+ years of accounting experienceKnowledge of accounting standards (IFRS)Strong communication skills (Both oral and written)Excellent time management skills to meet time-sensitive deadlinesSolid analytical and problem-solving skillsKnowledge of SAP preferred.Advanced Microsoft Office skills (particularly Excel) #LI-Hybrid #LI-AG1 At Sobeys we require our teammates to have the ability to adhere to a hybrid work model that requires your presence at one of our office locations at least three days per week.
