*Senior DevOps Software Engineer - Job Description* *Position Summary* We are currently looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Software Engineer who is well versed in automations tools and know-how of full stack web application development from front-end, back-end, business logic, database interactions, to operational deployment process and handle any issues that might rise on deployments. You must be able to assess the business requirements accurately and translate them to secure and scalable implementations that are easy to deploy. You will be working with others DevOps team members closely, and you will be assisting the IT Ops team. Note: This is no cloud infrastructure position, AlertDriving has over 300 virtual machines ?VMs? setup on premises, distributed across 3 locations in Canada. *Duties of the Senior DevOps Software Engineer* Some of the tasks for this Senior DevOps Software Engineer position: * Automate daily or concurrent process using tools like Ansible and Jenkins. * Write programs and maintenance existing code on languages like Bash, Python, Java which arepart of the current infrastructure of the company. * Collaborate with IT Ops team to continuously enhance deployment methodologies and themonitoring of the full stack applications, Docker containers, database, database replications,Prometheus and Grafana dashboards. * Automation of setup of new virtual machines, bootstrap of OS, additional software, take care ofsoftware upgrades. * Keep with the current and future technologies to make any automation faster, better and lessprone to human error. * Lead and mentor less experienced team members in areas relating to DevOps, IT Ops and webdevelopment, following standards, database design, processes, and web technologies. * Diagnose and troubleshoot user errors and error logs to come up with fixes in a timely manner. * Participate in post-implementation reviews and discussions by providing recommendations onprocess improvements, knowledge sharing, and communication flows for continuous optimizations.*Education and Training Requirements*The minimum post-secondary education requirement is a bachelor?s degree in computer science, Engineering, or other related disciplines. *Knowledge and Skills Requirements* The Senior DevOps Software Engineer should possess the following ideally: * A message to Garcia attitude, proactive attitude and take responsibility for their actions. * A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in Linux environments, bare metal servers and virtualmachines. Ideally on Debian or Debian-based distros like Ubuntu. * Ability to write shell scripts on Bash and/or Python scripts. * Knowing of basic Java programing language. * Knowing of basic SQL language and familiar with SQL statements. * Good knowledge of Ansible automation software. * Good knowledge of Jenkins automation server, knowledge of Jenkins pipelines is a plus. * Solid knowledge on Docker, Docker compose, a plus Docker Swarm. * Hands on experience working with servers, virtual machines, Webservers as Apache Webserverand Nginx WebServer. * Basic knowledge of Java Application Servers like Apple Tomcat, Glassfish, WildFly. * Good knowledge of networking on a physical and virtual infrastructure. * Solid understanding of web technologies such as RESTful APIs and web-services. * Solid experience on Oracle VirtualBox and/or VMware solutions. * Big plus knowledge on AI, technologies like Ollama, Code Llama or similar AI models.
