Job details
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Construction. Tasks: Load, unload and transport construction materials. Operate mobile and tower cranes to lift, move, position or place equipment and materials. Perform pre-operational inspection. Read blueprints to determine work requirements . Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks shoring and barricades. Mix, pour and spread materials such as concrete and asphalt. Assist in framing houses, erecting walls and building roofs. Assist in demolishing buildings. Perform routine maintenance work. Clean up chemical spills and other contaminants. Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites. Tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction. Direct traffic at or near construction sites. Equipment and machinery experience: Screeds. Bushing guns. Circular saws. Mortar and concrete mixers. Grinding machine. Grouting machine. Chippers. Air compressors. Nail guns. Drills. Chain saw. Compactor. Sandblasters. Hand tools. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Manual dexterity. Repetitive tasks. Handling heavy loads. Hand-eye co-ordination.
