*Job Title*: Recreation Coordinator
*Hours : * 30 - 37.5 hours weekly
*Daytime Shift (9:30am-5:30pm) and Afternoon Shift (11:30-7:30pm)*
*Location: *The Residences on Yonge, 15520 Yonge St, Aurora, ON
*Reports to*: Recreation Manager
*Job Summary*: The _Recreation Aide_ (Rec Coordinator) Organizes and operates an ongoing planned program of physical, spiritual, social, therapeutic, and recreational activities based on the needs of the residents and within available resources. You will be orchestrating both prearranged and impromptu activities designed to help residents uphold or enhance their well-being. Your aim is to encourage active participation in pursuits that contribute to overall wellbeing, purpose, creativity and enjoyment.
*Key Duties & Responsibilities*:
* Assist in the planning, organization and implementation of meaningful programs for the residents, in collaboration with the Recreation Manager.
* Maintains effective communication and good human relations with residents, families, volunteers and staff of other departments, keeping them informed of current and upcoming events; Liaises with other departments to coordinate programs and encourage participation.
* Monitor behavior and condition of residents during programs and assisting in monitoring the residents' interests, needs and progress.
* Complies with all Health and Safety acts and Policies and Procedures
* In collaboration with the Recreation Manager, the Activity Aide assesses, evaluates, and documents residents? needs, participation, and response to programs.
* Uphold and promote the organization's values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, morality, and integrity.
* Perform other related duties as assigned. *Qualifications*:
* High School Diploma or equivalent
* A post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, gerontology or other related field or equivalent work experience.
* Experience in a Health Care facility or equivalent experience in a geriatric environment.
* Candidate must successfully provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check and a negative 2Step TB Test.
* Requires G Drivers License ability to Drive Resident Van to outings.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.25-$19.45 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
