We envision a bright future in Coquitlam that we hope includes you!About You / What We Are Looking ForThe City of Coquitlam has a great opportunity for a Temporary Full Time Election Assistant. This position will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of administering the upcoming School Trustee By-Election in the City of Coquitlam. You will be a valuable team member contributing to the successful planning and implementation of the election and will work closely with senior staff, elected officials and candidates. You will help to ensure that the General Local Election meets all statutory requirements of the Local Government Act and that the community, candidates and Election Day staff receive excellent customer service in the provision of your duties.Qualifications The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing statutory notices, official forms, documents and reports required for the By-Election; Will be part of the team responsible for hiring, training, supervision and remuneration of all election officials and support staff; as well as planning for all necessary locations including ballots, forms and supplies for general voting day, advance voting opportunities and special voting opportunities. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills are critical in working with a wide variety of people. Working in a fast-paced environment, you must have excellent project management skills, be comfortable using MS Office and be detail-oriented with the ability to multitask efficiently while exercising tact, diplomacy and political acumen in a municipal government setting Our ideal candidate will have completed of the 12th school grade including or supplemented by a certificate or diploma in business, local government or public administration courses, plus 3 to 5 years related administrative experience of a supervisory nature or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The successful candidate will need to be flexible in that occasional evening and weekend hours will be required in order to successfully deliver the By-Election.What We Offer: This CUPE position has an hourly rate range of $36.06 - $42.44 per hour plus 6 % in lieu of benefits.
