The language comes from the land, and it has been this way since time immemorial.Le Conseil scolaire de Mission est situ sur les terres traditionnelles, ancestrales, non cdes et partages du peuple St:lo, des Premires nations, Leq':mel, Sema:th, Matheqw, Sq'wlets et Qw:ltl'el, peuples de cette terre depuis des temps immmoriaux. <p>We invite applications for the positions of: School: Student Services<p>Position: Child and Youth in Care Advocate (CYCA)<p>FTE: .20 Mondays<p>Grade: District K to 12<p>Status: Temporary<p>Start Date: As soon as possible<p>End Date: June 30, 2025<p>Reporting to the Director of Instruction, Student Services, the CYCA will be responsible for coordinating services for children and youth in care in Mission Public Schools.<p>The Advocates role is to promote communication among educators, social workers, foster parents, Ministry of Children and Families, and outside agencies so that children and youth in care feel a greater sense of belonging and have the tools they need to be successful at school. Through the committed work of the advocate in building relationships and acting as a consistent key contact person for the school district, you will focus on documented transition planning, monitoring progress, removing barriers for higher levels of educational goals and attainment.<p>Qualifications: A valid BC teaching certificate <p> Masters degree in counselling, Inclusive Education or related field <p> Training or Certification in Indigenous Pedagogy and/or Cultural Safety <p> Trauma Informed Practice Training <p> Training in the area of non-violent crisis intervention or has taken non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training or Crisis Prevention and Intervention Training <p> Knowledge of Integrated Case Management (ICM) and the ability to work well with outside agencies <p> The ability to case manage students with complex profiles specifically writing Individual Educational Plans (IEP) <p> Experience and ability to relate and connect with priority students in a non-judgmental patient and optimistic manner <p> Strong relationship and collaboration skills working with school-based professionals as well as community partners, students and parents would be an asset <p> Understanding of post-secondary planning, transition planning and employment readiness programs Job Duties: Meet with Xyolhemeylh and MCFD to verify students in our district <p> Co-case manage students with the counsellor and/or LSAT for students in Middle and Secondary School<p> Develop plans to including transition to adulthood<p> Monitor the transition plan for children in care from K-12<p> Monitor the transition plan for children in care in and out of the school district<p> Student Progress Reports to Director of Student Services four times per year<p> Present to Committee of the Whole or Board on work supporting children in care<p> Liaise with community agencies and attend ICM meetings for children in care<p> Complete paperwork for children and youth with continuing custody orders<p> Complete MAPS and PATHS where appropriate for students<p> Liaison with students teachers, and ask for updates on student progress<p> Use gathered information acknowledging success and or need for additional support- tutoring<p> Initiate formal
