Education: College/CEGEP. Tasks: Correct translated work using reference material, such as dictionaries and computer software to ensure translation accuracy. Revise translated material to ensure that translations retain the meaning, feeling and content of the original material . Supervise staff. Train staff. Translate sign language to a spoken language and vice versa. Interpret oral communication from one language to another aloud or using electronic equipment. Provide interpretation services in court. Interpret for persons speaking an Aboriginal or foreign language. Interpret language for individuals and small groups. Circulate updated linguistic information. Conduct terminological research on a given subject or in response to inquiries. Identify the terminology used in a field of activity. Maintain the content, context and style of the original material. Perform quality control and proofreading. Provide consultative services to translators, interpreters and technical writers. Translate a variety of written material.
