*What we are seeking:*
BC Building Science seeks a Structural Design Engineer to join our successful team. The main role involves structural assessment, design and field reviews of specialty structural engineering of building envelope components, elements of structures and non-structural components for existing and new buildings.
*What we expect from you:*
§ Degree in Civil Engineering, with focus in Structural Engineering.
§ Registered as Professional Engineer in BC (P.Eng), Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or candidate to be registered as an EIT.
§ Minimum three-years experience with local construction methods and materials.
§ Experience working with multiple materials especially with wood and concrete design.
§ Skilled in technical writing and have excellent communication skills ? written and oral.
§ Excellent team player.
§ Creative thinker with high attention to detail.
§ Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and establish priorities.
§ Knowledgeable in the field of building science and building envelope design is an asset.
§ Motivated to work independently with little supervision and able to take initiative to identify problems and complete tasks without requiring instructions.
§ Able to multitask and work in different projects and scopes at the same time.
*What you are going to do:*
§ Maintain communication and correspondence with related parties including Developers, Contractors, Architects and Owners.
§ Assess existing structural conditions of existing buildings and components and develop strategies for repairs.
§ Prepare detailed structural designs and calculations for building envelope components and / or backing structures.
§ Complete structural designs of elements of structures and non-structural components for new and existing buildings (e.g. cladding attachment, guardrails including guard backing structures, canopies and backing structures, etc.)
§ Provide support and guidance to the broader organization.
§ Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
