*Job Summary:* We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Clerk to facilitate the day-to-day financial operations of our law firm's Western Canada operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Law Society reporting and a passion for delivering accurate and timely financial services.
*Key Responsibilities:*
* *Financial Operations Support:* Assist in the day-to-day financial activities, ensuring smooth operations across the accounting department.
* *Law Society Reporting:* Maintain familiarity with reporting requirements set by the Law Society to ensure compliance.
* *Billing and Collections:* Ensure that billing, accounts, and collections are managed effectively and in a timely manner.
* *Payables and Receivables Management:* Process firm and client payables, while ensuring prompt collection of receivables.
* *Data Entry:* Accurately enter data for trust and firm cheques, including processing, verification, and reconciliation of bank and credit card transactions.
* *Payment Processing:* Manage posting of direct deposits, e-transfers, manual deposits, and process cheques and credit card payments.
* *Reporting:* Prepare and maintain weekly and monthly reports on Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), and Trust reports.
* *Transaction Reports:* Prepare detailed transaction reports to support financial analysis and decision-making.
* *Intercompany Loans:* Maintain a thorough understanding of intercompany loans and assist in their management.
* *Administrative Support:* Provide overall clerical support to the accounting and other departments as requested.
*Qualifications:*
* Proven experience, 3-5 years in an accounting or bookkeeping role, preferably in a law firm environment.
* Familiarity with Law Society reporting and compliance.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
