Job details
*Job Description: Communications Manager*
*Position Title*: Communications Manager
*Location*: Remote (with some travel required during election season)
*Reports To*: Executive Director
*Position Type*: Full-Time
*Salary Range*: $70,000 - $80,000 + extended health benefits and generous time off policy
*Application Deadline*: Friday Dec 6, 2024
*About Us*: New Majority is a national non-partisan non-profit organization dedicated to increasing youth civic participation. Our marquee programs include our Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) elections activations and Let Us In, a new campaign dedicated to youth constituent participation at all orders of government. New Majority?s primary audience is unengaged young people who, once activated, are keen to participate in democracy, but need a welcoming invitation and a path to get there. That?s where we come in! As we continue to expand our reach and impact heading into a busy 2025 year with a federal election (and talk of an Ontario snap election, among other potential campaigns) we are seeking an experienced Communications Manager to lead New Majority?s public facing content - through digital campaigns ? and to support our Executive Director with external communications (website, funder and annual reports and our youth perspectives survey).
*Position Overview*:The Communications Manager will oversee and execute all communications efforts for the organization, ensuring that messaging is aligned with our mission and goals. This role is an opportunity to join a fast-moving, startup-like team of organizers who primarily work on the ground and face-to-face. In this role you will lead the storytelling for who New Majority is and the youth impacted from our work. Heading into a major election season for 2025, if you are lit up by democracy advocacy, elections campaigns, youth mobilization and the power of organizing, you?ll have a BLAST telling our story.
This role will be responsible for:
* Creating and managing engaging content across social media platforms (Instagram and TikTok) that showcase how New Majority is exceptional at scaling GOTV in Canada
* Managing (including bringing in support for) the communications copy and design for our campaigns; elections and Let Us In
* Drafting mid-term and annual reports for funders alongside the Strategic Advisor and Executive Director
* Working with the Executive Director on our website redesign and brand refresh
* Producing our annual organizational report (released in January each year)
* Additionally, the Communications Manager will lead the storytelling and public-facing elements of our Annual Youth Perspectives Survey, transforming data into compelling narratives that highlight youth voices and the impact of our work
*Detailed Role Responsibilities*:
*Social Media Strategy and Content Creation*:
* Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy to raise awareness about how New Majority engages young and first time voters on the ground, in-person on campuses and in communities where unengaged-in-politics young people are.
* Create and schedule regular posts across platforms (Instagram, TikTok + LinkedIn). Daily posting is expected during election season (when the writ drops) but much less often during non-election season (blog campaign updates and a focus on audience growth during non-election season), with a focus on guiding field organizers to produce content as needed from the field.
* Monitor social media metrics, analyze trends, and adjust strategies as needed to improve engagement and outreach and report to the executive team monthly.
*Campaign Communications Design*:
* Plan and execute integrated communications campaigns with our organizing leadership, from concept to completion, including design, content creation, and distribution across various media.
* Work with leadership staff and partners to create messaging that supports fundraising, advocacy, partnerships and community engagement initiatives.
* Manage and keep our
