People like you!This is technical and administrative work in coordinating design and construction of minor capital projects and maintenance programs for municipal facilities. An incumbent of this class coordinates construction and development projects and preventative maintenance programs; prepares Terms of Reference and Requests for Proposal; prepares and makes recommendations for the maintenance and minor capital construction programs and budgets; liaises, collaborates and consults with clients, outside contractors and public works crews, and consultants and contractors; inspects, for contract compliance, needed repairs and implements emergency repairs; obtains necessary approvals and permits; works with prime contractor to enforce safety and WorkSafe BC issues; coordinates feedback and provides direction to consultants for project plan amendments within policy, established procedures and defined parameters; attends interdepartmental meetings; provides technical assistance and advice as required. Performs related work as required.Qualifications include diploma program in building technology plus sound related experience in the construction or maintenance field or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Thorough knowledge of maintenance methods, procedures, materials and equipment for buildings and support systems. Considerable knowledge of bylaws, codes and regulations related to safety practices, buildings and associated support systems and of the departmental regulations, policies and procedures applicable to the work. Sound knowledge of engineering drafting methods and practices and of construction terms of reference and contracts including CCDC2 documentation. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts. A Driver's Licence for the Province of British Columbia is required.The closing date for this competition has been extended until it is filled.
