Tasks: Install and maintain aerial and underground telephone equipment. Test equipment to locate transmission faults. Install trunking systems, circuits and equipment. Instruct apprentices. Complete and maintain test and service reports. Determine nature, cause and location of trouble. Climb and work aloft on poles, ladders or other support structures. Connect, disconnect and relocate cable outlets. Maintain and repair aerial and underground transmission systems. Repair or replace faulty cables, power suppliers and amplifiers. Splice, join and connect wires. Repair or replace defective telephone equipment. Perform minor repairs to equipment. Install underground wiring and cables. Diagnose and locate circuit, component and equipment faults. Design and construct low voltage (30 to 750V) multiphase service for single or multimeter installations. Work in a multidisciplinary environment. Communication protocols: RS-232 / RS-422. Computer and technology knowledge: Publish It. Equipment and machinery experience: Coaxial line. Fibre optics.
