Our schools are teaching communities where principals, vice-principals, teachers and support staff nurture student well-being and challenge students to achieve their best.<p> <p>Emergency Classroom Supervisor<p> <p><p><p> <p> <p> <p> <p> Summary<p> <p> <p> <p><p><p>Reporting to the Principal/Vice Principal, the Emergency Classroom Supervisor will provide:<p><p> Adult supervision in a classroom when the regularly assigned teacher is absent and a certified replacement teacher is not available;<p> Support a safe learning environment; and <p> Assistance to students with completing work assigned by the classroom teacher. <p><p>Emergency Classroom Supervisors may only be scheduled on the morning of the assignment and therefore must be available and willing to pick up assignments without advance notice.<p> <p><p><p> <p> <p> <p> <p> Duties and Responsibilities<p> <p> <p> <p><p><p> <p><p> Provide supervision for a class of students or groups of students to ensure a safe and secure environment<p> Taking attendance and reporting student absences <p> Assist students to complete work that has been assigned by the classroom teacher;<p> Follow school safety protocols and school and student safety plans to ensure the health and safety of staff and students<p> Maintain confidentiality and protect student privacy <p> Perform additional duties that may be assigned by the Principal / Vice-Principal, including supervision on the school yard, in hallways or other areas of the school.<p><p><p><p><p><p> <p> <p> <p> <p> Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills<p> <p> <p> <p><p><p><p> As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must provide a valid Police Records Check for Vulnerable Sector (PVRC) that was completed within six months of date of hire.<p> Applicants must be at least 18 years of age at time of employment<p> Completion of a high school diploma; preference will be given to applicants currently enrolled in a university or college program or graduates of these programs<p> Experience working/volunteering with children and/or adults, preferably in an education setting<p> Sound judgment and decision-making skills<p> Proficiency in English language, with French language skills considered an asset<p> Ability to follow instructions and show initiative.<p> Maintain strict confidentiality and privacy<p> Availability to work between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. and flexibility to accept assignments on the same day <p><p> <p><p><p> <p> <p> <p> <p> Application Process<p> <p> <p> <p><p><p>Applications will be assessed according to the requirements and qualifications outlined in this job posting, and in accordance with Policy P.146.HR Equitable Recruitment, Hiring and Promotion.<p> <p>Interviews are expected to be held in January 2025.
