Hawkey Elementary School. R.J. Hawkey Elementary School is located in the City of Airdrie and serves students from grades K-5 including the Christian Program and Pre-Kindergarten Program. For more information regarding this school, please visit their website at https://rjhawkey.rockyview.ab.ca/. <p>The Child Development Advisor (CDA) assists in the development and implementation of<p>coordinated programs of supportive student services by supplying leadership and assistance to<p>staff and students within Rocky View Schools (RVS) within an inclusive framework. The focus<p>includes supporting staff to ensure students experiencing challenges are able to access all aspects<p>of school life and benefit from instruction. <p>Responsibilities <p><p><p><p> Initiates and/or implements appropriate programming for all children with respect to<p> developing a welcoming, respectful, caring, and safe learning environment<p> <p> Assists in the development, implementation, and reassessment of programs in collaboration<p> with the school administrative team and school staff, to influence behavioural change,<p> improvement of self-concept, and development of social skills in individual students or an<p> entire class<p> <p> Conducts observations within the classroom and school, working with appropriate personnel<p> to develop a student behaviour plan<p> <p> Assists individual teachers in the collection of data on individuals or groups of students for<p> program planning<p> <p> Conducts individual or group sessions with identified students, which could include practical<p> in-class reinforcement of skills<p> <p> Liaises between school staff, the home, and other outside agencies, provides support to<p> families, and assists in parent education programs <p> Liaises with parents and refers them to community and social service agencies with<p> direction from school administrators<p> <p> Provides services consistent with the components of the Comprehensive Guidance and<p> Counselling model developed by Alberta Learning<p><p><p>Education/Experience <p><p><p> Certificate or Diploma in social work, psychology, child and youth care, or a<p> related field<p> Bachelor?s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field is considered an asset<p> 1-3 years? supporting youth in an inclusive education setting is considered an asset<p> An equivalent combination of Education and Experience may be considered<p><p><p><p> <p>Knowledge and Skills <p><p><p> Ability to effectively build relationships with students, parents, and RVS staff <p> Demonstrated ability to deal with a variety of complex and sensitive issues professionally and in a timely manner <p> Ability to successfully work in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision <p> Proven ability to establish collaborative working relationships with internal and external clients <p> Strong
