*Casual Diesel Mechanic (On-Call/Casual)* Western Educational Adventures (WEA) is looking for a Casual/On-Call Diesel Mechanic to assist with maintaining our fleet of buses and ensuring they are safe and roadworthy. This role involves performing routine inspections, diagnosing mechanical issues, conducting minor repairs, and ensuring preventative maintenance is carried out as needed. Work is on an as-needed basis and may be scheduled at various locations throughout Greater Victoria. WEA is a small, family-run company that operates bus charters and outdoor adventure camps for youth and adults on Vancouver Island. Our goal is to provide safe, reliable transportation, and we need a skilled mechanic to help maintain our fleet. If you are an experienced diesel mechanic looking for flexible, casual work, we encourage you to apply. *Remuneration* $30-$80 per hour (based on experience, certification and efficiency) *Hours* Casual / On-Call * Work is scheduled as needed based on vehicle maintenance and repair requirements. * Shifts may take place during the day, evenings, or weekends depending on fleet needs. *Expectations* WEA Diesel Mechanics are expected to: * Perform diagnostic assessments and identify mechanical issues. * Conduct minor repairs and maintenance on diesel buses, including oil changes, brake servicing, and electrical troubleshooting. * Work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision. * Have their own vehicle and tools for transportation to various bus locations in Greater Victoria. * Follow all safety regulations and maintenance procedures. *Responsibilities* This contract requires you to perform various mechanical duties, including but not limited to: * Conducting preventative maintenance and inspections on diesel buses. * Diagnosing and repairing engine, transmission, and brake systems. * Replacing worn or defective parts, belts, hoses, and filters. * Performing basic electrical repairs such as replacing batteries and light fixtures. * Cleaning engine compartments and undercarriages as required. * Documenting repairs and maintenance logs. *Minimum Qualifications* * Certified Diesel Mechanic or equivalent experience working with diesel engines. * Valid Driver?s License & Own Vehicle (Must be able to travel between locations). * Experience working on commercial vehicles, buses, or heavy-duty equipment. * Ability to work independently and troubleshoot mechanical issues. * Must be physically capable of lifting, bending, and performing hands-on mechanical tasks. *Application Instructions* For your application to be considered, please send us the following: 1.
