The Government of British Columbia has started building a new 51-unit supportive housing complex in Vernon to provide homes for individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Construction on the North Shore shelter is set to be completed by the end of January 2025. Operated by ASK Wellness, the 44-bed shelter is funded through the provincial Homeless Encampment Action Response Temporary Housing program and will receive funding until March 31, 2026. The shelter will have at least three staff members on site at all times, with a housing outreach worker assisting individuals find housing when available.
