The Southeast Techhub recently hosted a rural innovation conference in Estevan, to help the area navigate through the global energy transition. The Techhub aims to leverage the local expertise in energy, particularly in coal and oil, to explore diversification projects. The Techhub also supports education and workforce development, helping create new local opportunities amid broader economic disruptions.

The project introduces job seekers to different careers through virtual reality. There are currently 30 simulations available, which help prospective employees form personalized action plans.
