In 2023, Churchill’s tourism industry contributed $99.8M to the province’s GDP and created about 1,395 direct and indirect jobs, according to a report by Travel Manitoba. About 25,000 people visited Churchill last year, many of them international tourists.

Manitoba saw 10.4M tourists and posted a record $1.82B in tourist spending in 2023, according to Travel Manitoba. This represents a significant improvement since the pandemic; the province has not reported more than 10M visitors since 2019.
Alamo Management recently reopened its downtown Winnipeg hotel with a new name and expanded rooms and amenities. The $30M renovation includes 47 new suites, a gym, lobby bar, and additional meeting space. The hotel, formerly Best Western Plus, has been rebranded as the Hampton Inn by Hilton Winnipeg Downtown.

Tourism spending in Manitoba reached a record high of $1.82B in 2023, exceeding pre-pandemic levels for the second year in a row. At 10.3M, the number of tourism visits has also improved since the pandemic, but has yet to reach the 2019 record of 10.5M.
Manitoba’s Indigenous tourism industry is growing significantly, according to a recent report by the Conference Board of Canada. Between 2019 and 2023, the number of Indigenous-owned tourism operations rose from 81 to 170, creating more than 1,000 jobs.

The Manitoba Métis Federation recently opened a resort in the Interlake community of St. Laurent. The Lake Manitoba Resort will include a campground, restaurant, golf course, and Pro Shop. It is expected to create ten full-time, year-round positions and up to 20 seasonal jobs.
